Dehradun Implements Section 163 of BNSS Ahead of NEET-UG Re-exam

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Dehradun administration has enacted Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in anticipation of the NEET-UG re-examination scheduled for June 21, 2026. This measure aims to maintain law and order while facilitating the peaceful execution of the examination throughout the district.

Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Krishna Kumar Mishra has issued directives indicating that preventive restrictions will be placed in sensitive regions of Dehradun leading up to the examination. The administration’s decision is characterised as a precautionary step intended to prevent potential disruptions during the medical entrance test.

This implementation of Section 163 underscores the administration’s commitment to conducting the examination fairly and smoothly across all designated centres. Authorities have clarified that any attempts to interfere with the examination process or create disorder will be addressed resolutely under applicable legal provisions.

Enhanced Security Measures for Exam Day

Pramod Kumar, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Dehradun, has expressed that extensive security arrangements are underway for the NEET-UG re-exam. He specified that the administration has coordinated significant resources in preparation for the examination day, which is anticipated to be busy and highly monitored.

SP Kumar detailed that both police forces and Central Paramilitary Forces (CPMF) will be deployed to manage security logistics, including the transport of examination materials. Furthermore, a Sub-Inspector has been designated as the officer in charge for each centre, ensuring proper oversight throughout the process.

Local police station in-charges have been actively visiting examination centres over the past few days to verify that all necessary arrangements are in order. The police team will maintain communication with centre administrators to respond quickly to any emerging issues.

National Strategy for Smooth Conduct of NEET-UG

As part of a broad national effort, administrative and security preparations have been intensified in various regions to ensure that the NEET-UG examination proceeds without incident. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued guidance for candidates, advising them to report to their examination centres between 11 am and 1:30 pm.

Important timings have been established, with entry gates to the centres closing promptly at 1:30 pm. The NEET-UG examination will take place in a pen-and-paper format, occurring from 2 pm to 5:15 pm across 551 cities in India, as well as in 14 international locations.

More than 22.79 lakh candidates are anticipated to participate in the examination on June 21, highlighting the high stakes associated with this medical entrance test. The nationwide focus on maintaining an environment conducive to fair conduct underscores the significance of the examination process in the country.
