Chaos at Hyderabad Theatre: Clash Erupts During ‘Darling’ Re-Release Screening

The CSR Journal Magazine

A disturbance occurred in a theatre in Hyderabad during the re-release of the film Darling, which features actors Prabhas and Kajal Aggarwal. The film was screened again as there is currently a gap in Telugu film releases. Various videos from the incident have circulated online, showing a man being assaulted by individuals in uniforms, presumed to be theatre staff. The footage depicts the man attempting to defend himself while surrounded and attacked by the staff members.

Details of the Altercation

Some social media users assert that the man was attacked after requesting the theatre to replay songs from the film. In contrast, there are claims that he behaved inappropriately with a female staff member, while other reports suggest that he may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time. No official statement has been released by the theatre management regarding the incident.

Additional angles of the incident indicate that the man was attempting to defend his friend, who was allegedly the initial target of the confrontation. A viral post on X claimed that the woman involved snatched a bag first, leading to the escalation of the situation necessitating intervention by theatre staff, who then resorted to violence.

Darling’s Return to Theatres

Darling has made a comeback to the big screen sixteen years after its original release, with a remastered 4K version. The film reportedly garnered a robust audience response, as indicated by industry tracker Sacnilk, which reported that over 2 lakh tickets were sold on opening day. The re-release generated revenue of Rs 7.59 crore globally on its first day.

Prabhas, the leading actor in the film, has had a notable presence in the film industry following his work in other major productions. Previously, he starred in Adipurush and Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, alongside his recent appearance in the sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD, which successfully grossed over Rs 1000 crore worldwide. This film featured acclaimed actors such as Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan.

Looking ahead, Prabhas has a range of projects in development. He made a cameo in the film Kannappa and provided his voice for the animated feature Mirai. In 2026, he starred in the horror-comedy The Raja Saab, which has reportedly exceeded Rs 200 crore in box office earnings. Upcoming projects include the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD, with Sai Pallavi, as well as Fauzi and Spirit, under the direction of Hanu Raghavapudi and Sandeep Reddy Vanga respectively.
