Chandrachur Singh Engages with Officials During Gurugram Demolition Drive

The CSR Journal Magazine

A recent demolition initiative in the DLF area of Gurugram took an unexpected turn when actor Chandrachur Singh emerged from his residence to engage with officials responsible for the operations. During the effort, a bulldozer was used to remove various structures, including a ramp situated outside Singh’s home. The interaction was captured on video and has since gained significant attention online, highlighting the actor’s composed and respectful demeanour throughout the encounter.

Details of the Demolition Drive

The demolition drive was conducted by the Town and Country Planning Department on Friday as part of a broader initiative aimed at addressing alleged unlawful constructions in the region. Authorities cited multiple violations of approved building plans and bylaws, leading to the dismantling of these structures without the necessary permits. Singh’s ramp was identified as one such unauthorised construction, prompting the intervention of officials.

As the demolition process unfolded, the 57-year-old actor took it upon himself to discuss the situation with the team of officials. He expressed concerns regarding the scope of the demolition and inquired whether any actions would extend to interior parts of his home. Singh pointed out that his father had acquired the property in 1991, emphasising the longstanding history of the residence.

Singh remained calm while questioning the reasoning behind the ramp’s removal and requested clarification about the official documentation of the activities taking place. He specifically asked for the name of the officer overseeing the operation and was introduced to District Town Planner Amit Madhaulia. The actor exchanged pleasantries, shaking hands with Madhaulia and other officials, signifying a respectful conclusion to their discussion.

Chandrachur Singh’s Recent Projects

On the professional front, Chandrachur Singh’s latest appearance was in the film “Bayaan,” released in 2025. This Hindi police procedural, directed by Bikas Ranjan Mishra, features Singh alongside Huma Qureshi, who plays the role of a police officer investigating accusations of sexual abuse against a prominent cult leader, while contending with institutional challenges and external pressures.

The film’s cast also includes notable actors such as Sachin Khedekar, Avijit Dutt, Sampa Mandal, Preeti Shukla, Aditi Kanchan Singh, Paritosh Sand, Vibhore Mayank, Swati Das, and Perry Chhabra. “Bayaan” made its debut in the Discovery section at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, later being showcased in the A Window on Asian Cinema section at the 30th Busan International Film Festival.

As discussions around illegal constructions continue in Gurugram, Singh’s interaction with the demolition team appears to reflect the ongoing challenges faced by residents regarding property regulations. While significant media coverage was dedicated to Singh’s reaction and the demolition drive itself, it remains to be seen how authorities will address the broader concerns of the community moving forward.
