Celina Jaitly Addresses Defamation Claims Amid Divorce Proceedings

The CSR Journal Magazine

Actor Celina Jaitly has responded to fresh defamation threats issued by her husband, Peter Haag, and her father-in-law, Wolfgang Haag, within the context of an ongoing divorce case. She highlighted the irony that her family once sought public attention but now approaches her statements with claims of defamation. Jaitly, who has filed for divorce citing domestic violence and cruelty, declared through her legal representatives that she would not be silenced amidst these allegations.

Her legal team confirmed that two new legal notices threatening defamation lawsuits had been received from Peter and Wolfgang Haag. Jaitly has already submitted an official response through Karanjawala & Co, indicating that she sees these threats as an attempt to distract from the active police complaints and evidence of violence presented in court.

In a detailed statement shared through a ten-slide post, Jaitly discussed her commitment to speaking about her experiences and pursuing legal remedies. She expressed that her efforts to address her situation should not be misconstrued as defamation, noting that previous interviews and family publicity were welcomed by her husband.

Concerns Over Custody and Familial Relationships

The actor elaborated on her difficulties regarding the custody of her children, asserting that she has been denied authority despite her requests for joint custody. Jaitly voiced specific concerns about the potential removal of her children from the marital home, fearing they could be taken outside the jurisdictions of Austrian and Indian courts without her consent.

In her statements, Jaitly reiterated her desire for joint custody and an amicable divorce, contrasting her plea with the legal notices she received when she spoke out about her situation. She stated that consistent efforts were being made to undermine her role as a mother, which she found troubling and unjust.

Additionally, Jaitly discussed feeling pressured and intimidated in a remote Austrian village, particularly as a woman who has lost both parents. She has presented evidence of these claims to competent authorities and maintains that her refusal to remain silent appears to be what troubles certain individuals.

Allegations of Abuse and Forced Asset Transfers

In a particularly poignant remark, Jaitly pointed out the troubling dynamic of a “50-year-old man and his 75-year-old father” issuing legal threats against her, framing it within the context of years of purported abuse and coerced asset transfers at a time she sought legal remedies. She detailed her struggles, expressing that these actions were emblematic of her ongoing fight against intimidation.

Jaitly concluded her statement by affirming her intent not to be intimidated into silence and expressed confidence in the judicial systems of both India and Austria. Her commitment to obtaining justice is underscored by her belief in her right to advocate for her and her children’s welfare.

Since marrying Austrian entrepreneur Peter Haag in 2010, Celina Jaitly has been vocal about her personal losses, including the tragic death of her son, Shamsher. The couple shares twin sons, Winston and Viraaj, born in 2012, and another son, Arthur, born in 2017. In November 2025, Jaitly initiated legal proceedings at the Andheri Magistrate Court in Mumbai, alleging domestic violence and seeking monetary compensation, stating that the abuse had begun soon after their marriage.
