Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has expressed his admiration for actress Mrunal Thakur, recognising her as a distinctive talent in the film industry. In a recent interview, Kashyap noted that Thakur’s performances possess an emotional depth that is rare among actors. He stated that she often undervalues her own abilities, emphasising that her potential is far greater than she perceives.

Kashyap elaborated on Thakur’s acting style, describing it as less reliant on traditional gestures and more focused on the emotional expressions conveyed through her eyes. During the interview with India Today, Kashyap specifically remarked, “She really underestimates herself. She has no idea how good an actor she is. She’s a very good actor.” He contrasted her approach to that of conventional actors who often use hand gestures alongside their facial expressions. In Thakur’s case, he argued, her emotional experiences translate solely through her eyes, giving audiences a clear understanding of her character’s feelings.

Kashyap stated, “I have something crazy in mind for her. She’s been wanting to let loose and abuse in a film for a while now- so whoever she wants to abuse, she can do it in my film.”
