Allegations of Kidnapping and Forced Conversions Rise in Lucknow

The CSR Journal Magazine

Recent allegations in Lucknow concerning kidnapping and forced religious conversion have raised significant concerns among the local population. These cases are reportedly linked to broader fears surrounding the phenomenon termed ‘love jihad’.

The first incident involves a 21-year-old woman, whose father claims she went missing on May 21, 2026. The young woman reportedly left her residence on the SGPGI campus for work but failed to return home. Her parents have stated that they have obtained CCTV footage to aid the investigation.

The family has accused Irshad Ali, an acquaintance known to them, of abducting their daughter. They allege that Ali had been visiting their home frequently and engaged in harassing phone calls. The family also claims he threatened to send their daughter to Syria when they objected to his behaviour.

Second Case Alleges Deceit and Coercion

The second case involves a woman who has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against a man named Zubair Ansari. She alleges that he misled her about his identity, entered into a romantic relationship under false pretences, and subsequently pressured her to convert to Islam.

The woman has claimed that photos and videos taken during their relationship were used to blackmail her. According to the FIR, she was forced to recite Islamic prayers and perform other religious practices against her will. She also alleges that when she resisted these actions, she faced physical assault and threats.

Authorities have stated that investigations into both cases are actively under way. Police officials have indicated that all allegations are receiving thorough scrutiny, and subsequent legal actions will be based on evidence collected during the probe.

Previous Case at King George’s Medical University

The recent incidents have drawn attention back to a related case from 2025 involving King George’s Medical University. In this situation, a resident doctor, Rameez Uddin Nayak, was accused of sexually exploiting a colleague based on false marriage promises and pressuring her to convert to Islam.

As per the FIR, Nayak deceived the complainant into believing he was unmarried and intended to marry her. However, once the woman sought to formalise their relationship, he made her conversion to Islam a condition. It later emerged that he was already married and living in Lucknow.

The woman further alleged that after trying to end the relationship, Nayak threatened to release private images of her. In September, she reportedly became pregnant and was coerced into having a medical abortion, although claims of exploitation persisted despite his assurances of a future marriage.

The link between these cases suggests a troubling pattern of alleged abusive relationships involving coercion and manipulation through deceit. As investigations continue, local authorities aim to address the issue and restore confidence in community safety.
