A tragic incident has come to light from Mumbai’s Kandivali area. A 14-year-old boy in Mumbai allegedly died by suicide on Wednesday evening. The boy jumped from the 50th floor of a residential building.
This comes after an argument with his mother over attending tuition classes. The victim’s mother is reportedly a prominent Hindi and Gujarati television actress who has worked in popular TV dramas. The incident occurred at a high-rise residential complex in Kandivali.
The Incident Unfolds
According to reports, the Class 9 student was the actress’s only child. The teen reportedly jumped from a significant height after his mother insisted he attend tuition classes despite his reluctance. The family resides on the 51st floor of the building.
The initial reports suggested that the boy jumped from a couple of floors below his home. However, the police are still working to ascertain the exact floor from which he fell.
Reports suggest that the tragic sequence of events began around 6 PM on Wednesday. This started when the mother asked her son to go for tuition. An argument ensued, after which the boy left the house. A short while later, residents of the building heard a loud noise and discovered the boy severely injured. His mother, who had been searching for him, was alerted by a resident and found her son in a pool of blood.
Police Investigation Underway
The local residents alerted the police immediately. Kandivali police have registered an accidental death report and initiated a thorough investigation into the matter. Senior Inspector Ravi Adane stated that while no foul play is suspected at this stage, the absence of a direct witness to the jump means all possible angles are being explored.
“One of the residents of the building informed the boy’s mother that a boy had died by suicide. She was shocked to discover that it was her son,” said a police officer at the Kandivali police station.
“So far, we have not come across anything that points towards any foul play. But as there is no witness to the suicide incident, we are probing the matter from all possible angles,” said Ravi Adane, Senior Inspector, Kandivali police station.
Teen’s friend to be questioned
Meanwhile, the authorities are also planning to question the boy’s friends at school and tuition classes. This will help them gather insights into his mental state in the days leading up to the incident. Police also intend to inquire why the boy was attempting to avoid tuition, hoping to shed light on any underlying issues. Meanwhile, the boy’s body has been sent to the hospital for autopsy.
