Apple has officially launched a new 14-inch MacBook Pro and a refreshed 24-inch iMac, both powered by the newly developed M6 chip. This latest addition to Apple’s computer lineup is designed to deliver faster performance and improved artificial intelligence capabilities. The 14-inch MacBook Pro features the M6 chip in its entry-level configuration. However, Apple continues to offer the more powerful M5 Pro and M5 Max options for users who require additional processing power for demanding tasks. The updated iMac has transitioned from the M4 chip to the M6, providing enhanced connectivity and faster storage solutions.

Pricing and Availability in India

The pricing for the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 begins at Rs 2,39,900 in India. Features and Specifications of the New Models

The M6 chip introduces a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU to the new iMac, featuring Neural Accelerators in each GPU core to efficiently manage AI and graphics tasks. Apple claims that this model offers up to five times faster on-device AI performance compared to the M4 version. Additionally, it promises a performance increase of up to 2.5 times in Microsoft Excel compared to the M1 iMac.

The refreshed iMac retains its 24-inch 4.5K Retina display and enhances connectivity with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and faster SSD storage. It also includes a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera, colour-matched accessories, and up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports, making it a versatile option for users.

On the MacBook Pro, the M6 chip is positioned as suitable for a range of professional tasks, creative projects, and AI applications. This chip also includes a Dual 16-core Neural Engine, enhancing its capabilities further. The M5 Pro and M5 Max configurations remain available for users requiring additional processing power and memory for more intensive workloads.

Furthermore, the new iMac operates on macOS 27, which incorporates Apple’s latest software features, including Siri AI and Apple Intelligence capabilities. These tools are designed to assist users in searching for information, working across applications, and executing tasks using AI, all while ensuring privacy protections are built into the system.
