Indian Army’s Air Defence Regiment Shows L70 Guns on Operation Sindoor Anniversary

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Indian Army is marking the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor by showcasing its L70 air defence guns. These guns, which symbolise vigilance and precision, played a significant role in addressing drone threats during the operation. Their deployment underlines the Army’s commitment to maintaining an effective air defence shield.

Advanced technology was a hallmark of the operation, with the use of sophisticated drones for surveillance, target acquisition, and real-time intelligence. This capability enabled the Army to effectively navigate challenging terrains and gather vital information during the exercise.

Additionally, the Army demonstrated its tactical skills in conducting waterborne operations. Specialist battle groups maneuvered through shallow waters using agile assault boats, showcasing their preparedness to intercept any enemy vessels approaching Indian borders.

Military Response Following Terror Attack

The anniversary also coincides with the remembrance of a terror attack in Pahalgam that resulted in 26 fatalities. In response to this incident, the Indian Army reasserted its determination against terrorism and recalled the decisive military actions taken under Operation Sindoor. Statements made by the Army highlighted their readiness for retaliation against any future acts of aggression.

On social media platform X, the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG PI) of the Indian Army released a message affirming that justice will be served for acts against the nation. The graphic accompanying the message declared, “Operation Sindoor continues…”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam attack. He expressed solidarity with the affected families and reiterated India’s commitment to countering terrorism effectively. His message emphasised that the sacrifices made would not be forgotten and reinforced the nation’s resolve in the face of terrorist threats.

Details of Operation Sindoor and Its Impact

Operation Sindoor commenced on May 7, 2025, aimed at dismantling terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The operation focused on striking terror launchpads associated with groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen, which significantly hampered their operational effectiveness.

The military operation resulted in heightened tensions, provoking retaliatory actions from Pakistan that included drone strikes and artillery bombardments across the border. This escalated military engagement lasted for four days, showcasing the dynamics of cross-border hostility.

In response to the escalation, the military leadership of both countries engaged in dialogue, successfully negotiating a ceasefire on May 10, 2025. This communication occurred between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO), reflecting an attempt to de-escalate tensions and restore calm to the region.
