Yuva Set to Re-Release in Theaters on February 20 After 20 Years

The CSR Journal Magazine

More than 20 years after its original release, the acclaimed political action drama Yuva will return to theatres on February 20, 2026. The film, which first captured the essence of the urban youth experience, will be showcased at PVR INOX cinemas across the country. Actor Esha Deol, who starred in the film, took to social media to announce this much-anticipated re-release.

In her video message, Deol expressed her emotional connection to the project, stating that it is “extremely close to my heart.” She reminisced about her collaboration with esteemed director Mani Ratnam and her co-stars Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, and Vivek Oberoi. Deol remarked that being part of a film focused on youth that still resonates with audiences adds significant value to this re-release. She also mentioned the Tamil version, Aayutha Ezhuthu, which starred actor Suriya.

Plot and Legacy of Yuva

Yuva, which was written, produced, and directed by Mani Ratnam, intricately wove the lives of three young men navigating the complexities of student politics, ambition, and ethical dilemmas in Kolkata. The film featured an ensemble cast that included Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor. The Tamil adaptation, Aayutha Ezhuthu, had a different cast but shared the same core narrative themes.

Over time, Yuva has attained cult status due to its innovative storytelling, memorable music by A.R. Rahman, and Abhishek Bachchan’s powerful portrayal of Lallan Singh – a role often recognised as a pivotal moment in his acting career. The film’s rights are currently held by Red Chillies Entertainment.

Competitive Box Office Release

The re-release of Yuva aligns with the debut of a new film, Do Deewane Seher Mein, produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and featuring stars Siddhant Chaturvedi and Mrunal Thakur. The box office on February 20 will witness a remarkable generational clash, presenting an iconic, politically charged drama from 2004 alongside a fresh romantic venture
