Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced on September 19, 2026, that his administration will provide appointment letters to one lakh youth over the forthcoming six months. This initiative is expected to bring the total number of government job appointments made under his tenure to approximately 10.5 lakh.

Adityanath emphasised the significance of transparency in the recruitment procedures implemented during his administration, stating that these processes have been free from political influence. During the announcement, the Chief Minister noted that the recruitment boards and commissions have operated efficiently under his government, contrasting this with past administrations.

He remarked that when such institutions function without political interference, positive outcomes are more easily attainable. The Chief Minister stressed that transparent examinations conducted with integrity have ensured that youth gain substantial employment opportunities.

Critique Of Previous Recruitment Practices

Adityanath also sharply critiqued the recruitment system before 2017, alleging widespread politicisation and procedural irregularities. He highlighted a particular instance wherein an individual with inadequate qualifications served as the chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission.

Following the exposure of these issues, the court reportedly made stern observations about the situation, suggesting significant legal repercussions for those involved. In his address, Adityanath argued that the previous government’s practices contributed to an identity crisis among the youth in Uttar Pradesh.

He alleged that nepotism severely undermined the integrity of recruitment bodies, stating that individuals connected to those in power were positioned within these commissions. As a result, he claimed that genuine recruitment opportunities were virtually nonexistent, forcing young people to leave the state in search of employment.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister elaborated on the perception problem that previously surrounded Uttar Pradesh, suggesting that employers were reluctant to offer jobs to young individuals due to the state’s tarnished reputation.

Concerns About Law And Order

In addition to addressing employment issues, Adityanath also expressed concerns regarding the law-and-order situation in Uttar Pradesh prior to his administration, stating that riots frequently occurred and curfews could extend for months. He indicated that citizens did not feel secure during that time, a stark contrast to the current climate.

The Chief Minister attributed these issues to the inefficient functioning of prior governments, characterising Uttar Pradesh as a “BIMARU” state. He asserted that the state’s challenges were not inherent but stemmed from the flawed mentality and operational strategies of past administrations.

Adityanath contended that his government’s approach has transformed the system, paving the way for transparent hiring and appointments across various government sectors. He concluded by reaffirming the commitment to continue providing employment opportunities through fair and accountable recruitment processes, asserting that the successes achieved thus far serve as a testament to this strategy.
