Amitabh Bachchan Pays Tribute to Nana Patekar Following His Passing

Amitabh Bachchan has commemorated the late Nana Patekar by sharing a collection of throwback videos on social media platforms, Instagram and X. These posts reflect on their enduring friendship following Patekar’s demise at the age of 75. The veteran actor reportedly passed away at his residence in Goa due to chest pain during the early hours of Thursday.

The shared videos featured various moments from their collaboration, including Patekar’s memorable participation in an episode of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ alongside Bachchan. In one of the clips, he is seen performing the song ‘Main Zindagi Ka Saath Nibhata Chala’ while seated on the KBC hot seat. Another memorable segment shows Patekar discussing Bachchan becoming a grandfather during the filming of a particular project, while a different video captures a humorous moment from their film, ‘Kohram’.

Tribute During ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’

In a recent episode of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, Amitabh Bachchan again paid his respects to Nana Patekar. He acknowledged Patekar as a remarkable artist and an invaluable friend. Bachchan remarked that the news of Patekar’s passing had left a profound impact not only within the Indian film fraternity but also among those who were close to him.

Describing Patekar’s virtues such as honesty and straightforwardness, he noted that these qualities distinguished him in a unique way. Bachchan highlighted the enduring legacy that Patekar left behind, stating, “Some people leave our lives, but their voice, their good deeds, and the lessons they taught remain within us.” He expressed a personal salute to Patekar for his contributions to the arts and society, which were characterised by integrity and commitment.

Additionally, Bachchan reminisced about Patekar’s earlier visit to the KBC set, recalling how the evening they shared was particularly memorable. During the tribute, Bachchan also spoke about Patekar’s philanthropic efforts, particularly noting his support for farmers in drought-affected regions of Maharashtra. He concluded the tribute, expressing heartfelt condolences on behalf of the KBC family, affirming the collective loss felt by all who knew Patekar.

Funeral Held With State Honours

Nana Patekar was laid to rest at his farmhouse in Donje, located in Pune’s Khadakwasla area. On the day of his funeral, the Maharashtra government declared that Patekar would be honoured with full state recognition for his significant contributions to both Marathi theatre and the film industries in Hindi and Marathi. This recognition reflects his important role in the cultural landscape of the region.

Many individuals from various strata of society attended the funeral, including family members, film industry colleagues, and political figures. Notable attendees included Union Minister Ramdas Athawale and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar. Other politicians, such as Roopali Chakankar and Chandrakant Patil, as well as actor Pravin Tarde and director Mehul Kumar, were also present.

Several film personalities expressed their condolences and paid tribute to Patekar through social media platforms. Celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Alia Bhatt shared heartfelt messages in memory of the late actor, highlighting the collective sense of loss within the film community.
