The CSR Journal Magazine

The 9th Uttar Pradesh Mango Festival, featuring over 800 varieties of mangoes, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on July 4, 2026. The three-day event aims to enhance branding, promote exports, and introduce modern cultivation practices in India’s leading mango-producing state. Adityanath highlighted the significance of the festival as a pivotal opportunity for mango growers to present their produce and innovative techniques to a broader audience.

During the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Minister unveiled the festival souvenir and honoured progressive mango farmers. He emphasised that the event would facilitate better marketing avenues for farmers and promote scientific methods of cultivation, thereby elevating the horticultural profile of Uttar Pradesh.

Adityanath also announced the introduction of a new brand identity for the renowned Malihabadi mangoes, naming it the “Kakori Brand.” This initiative seeks to honour the legacy of the Kakori martyrs who contributed to India’s independence struggle.

Branding Initiatives and Export Strategies

In his remarks, Adityanath stated, “We have given a new brand name to the state’s Malihabadi mangoes: ‘Kakori Brand’. This initiative reflects a commitment to honouring those who sacrificed for the country’s independence.” He underscored the brand’s significance in supporting farmers and acknowledged their diligent work.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister articulated that this year’s mango festival serves as a robust platform for farmers, referred to as “annadatas”, to exhibit the quality of their produce and innovations in agriculture. He commended the event organisers and the participating farmers for their contributions to elevating the agricultural landscape of the state.

To augment mango exports, the state government has established four pack houses located in Saharanpur, Lucknow, Amroha, and Varanasi. Adityanath also mentioned the development of an Integrated Testing and Treatment Park at Noida International Airport, designed to ensure that agricultural products meet international standards and facilitate increased exports.

Global Impact and Future Prospects

In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Vocal for Local” initiative, the Chief Minister underlined that Uttar Pradesh contributes approximately 26 per cent to India’s total mango production. Mangoes from the state are exported to various countries, including the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Singapore, Kuwait, New Zealand, Belgium, Japan, Italy, Qatar, and Russia.

Adityanath articulated a vision that extends beyond merely increasing mango production; he stressed the importance of branding, processing, packaging, traceability, and organic certification as key components for future growth. This holistic approach aims to strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s position in both domestic and international fruit markets.

As the festival continues over the next two days, it strives to connect mango growers with potential buyers, encouraging value addition and promoting the state’s agricultural prowess. The initiatives surrounding the festival not only enhance the visibility of Uttar Pradesh’s mangoes but also serve to uplift the livelihood of farmers throughout the region.
