Unrest In Balochistan Amid Military Operations By Pakistani Forces

The CSR Journal Magazine

The headline highlights increasing unrest in Balochistan, with reports suggesting that military operations are currently underway in various districts. Areas such as Kharan, Khuzdar, and Mastung are reportedly experiencing significant disturbances, and independent verification of these claims remains challenging due to limited access and the absence of official statements.

Reports Of Armed Confrontations

In Kharan, local residents have alleged that the Pakistani forces commenced a military operation in the early hours, particularly in regions like Almark and Kisan. During this operation, unidentified armed individuals allegedly ambushed a convoy of approximately ten military vehicles, which resulted in an intense gunfight. Witnesses also reported drone activity in the area; however, confirmed information regarding casualties or the outcomes of the operation has not been released.

Further in Khuzdar, particularly in the Zehri area, reports emerged of an attack on security personnel a day prior. This incident reportedly began with an explosion followed by heavy exchange of gunfire in Sohinda, lasting several hours. Locals noted the presence of drones in the vicinity during this confrontation. Some accounts suggested that military-affiliated groups might have targeted civilians through shelling and detentions, although these claims could not be verified and remain speculative.

In the Mastung district, particularly in Kardegap tehsil, residents have reported experiencing multiple explosions and heavy firing since Thursday morning. Reports indicate that a significant military operation is underway, with intermittent clashes continuing throughout the day. In light of these developments, local health authorities have declared a state of emergency. Medical facilities, including Nawab Ghaus Bakhsh Raisani Memorial Hospital and District Headquarters Hospital in Mastung, have been placed on high alert, according to reports.

Civilian Impact And Emergency Response

Amidst the unrest, two young men, Fazil Khan and Zahir, were reportedly injured during shooting incidents allegedly involving security forces near Killi Mangi. They were subsequently transported to the Civil Hospital Quetta for medical attention. Local accounts suggest that the injured individuals were farmers at the time of the incident and were unarmed, further adding to the concern regarding civilian safety during ongoing military activities.

The situation remains fluid, with communication blackouts complicating the ability to obtain accurate information about events on the ground. The combination of limited access to affected areas, curtailed communication, and the lack of official statements has made it difficult for independent observers to verify claims regarding the military operations and their impacts.

As the circumstances continue to evolve, many residents are facing increased uncertainty regarding their safety and security. The ongoing military actions and associated civil disturbances raise critical questions about the implications for the local population, adding to the tension already pervasive in the region.
