Union Minister JP Nadda to Unveil ‘SAHI’ and ‘BODH’ Initiatives at India AI Impact Summit

The CSR Journal Magazine

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, JP Nadda, is set to launch two significant national initiatives during the India AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam. The initiatives are the Strategy for Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare for India (SAHI) and the Benchmarking Open Data Platform for Health AI (BODH), as announced in an official statement by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

What is SAHI?

SAHI is described as a national framework aimed at facilitating the safe, ethical, evidence-based, and inclusive integration of Artificial Intelligence within the healthcare sector in India.

It seeks to provide comprehensive guidance on governance, data stewardship, validation, implementation, and monitoring of AI solutions, while also aiding states and institutions in the responsible adoption of AI technologies aligned with public health objectives.

What is BODH?

BODH, which has been developed by the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in partnership with the National Health Authority, offers a privacy-preserving benchmarking platform. This platform is designed for the rigorous evaluation of AI models, using diverse and real-world health data while ensuring the underlying datasets remain confidential. As part of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, BODH aims to reinforce trust, transparency, and quality assurance in the implementation of Health AI.

The introduction of SAHI and BODH represents a significant advancement in India’s ongoing efforts to build a robust, responsible, and globally competitive health AI framework. This was emphasized in the press release, highlighting the importance of these initiatives for the future of healthcare in the country.

Participation Highlights at the Summit

The India AI Impact Summit marks the first global AI gathering held in the Global South, attracting over 20 Heads of State, 60 Ministers, and 500 international AI leaders. The event brings together policymakers, technology firms, academia, and representatives from various industries, aiming to translate discussions on AI into actionable development outcomes under the IndiaAI Mission and the Digital India initiative.
