UK Government Ready to Maintain National Security Amid Threats from Iran

The UK government has stated that it is prepared to safeguard the country from any potential attacks following recent threats issued by Iran. On July 24, 2023, officials acknowledged that Iranian authorities have labelled British military bases, specifically those involved in supporting US operations against Iran, as “legitimate targets”.

A spokesperson for the UK government affirmed that the nation’s armed forces are always ready to defend against threats, both domestic and foreign. They underscored the commitment to maintaining national security, asserting that the military stands equipped to act at any moment to protect the UK.

This declaration arrives after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) voiced intentions to target RAF Fairford, a Royal Air Force installation in southwestern England. The IRGC claims the base has been used by the United States for military actions against Iran.
