Trump Weighs Strike To Eliminate Khamenei, Son Amid Iran Crisis: Report

The CSR Journal Magazine

United States President Donald Trump has been presented with various military strategies, including the potential targeted elimination of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, and his son, Mojtaba Khamenei. This information comes from senior sources in the administration. Discussions reportedly included options to “take out the ayatollah and his son and the mullahs,” according to a Trump advisor. This advisor also noted that a decision has not yet been finalised, emphasizing the uncertainty surrounding these deliberations. “The President hasn’t decided to strike yet. I know this because we haven’t acted. He might choose to do nothing,” the advisor stated.

Multiple Military Options Presented

The Pentagon has outlined a range of military options for Trump to consider. “They have scenarios for every possible situation,” explained the advisor, who added that the ultimate decision regarding military action remains unknown. “What the President will choose is uncertain. It is unclear even to him,” the advisor remarked. Another source confirmed that the idea of targeting Khamenei and his son was proposed to Trump several weeks ago, indicating that this option has been under contemplation for some time. Furthermore, a senior advisor noted that Trump appears to be strategically maintaining ambiguity regarding his future actions. “Trump is keeping his options open. He could decide to launch an attack at any moment,” the official stated.

White House Comments on Speculation

The White House responded to media speculation on this issue. Spokesperson Anna Kelly refrained from commenting on specific military plans, asserting that “the media may speculate about the President’s plans, but only President Trump knows what he may or may not decide.” Any direct military action against Iran’s leadership would significantly escalate tensions between the United States and Iran, potentially leading to greater instability in the Middle East region.

Trump Issues Warnings to Iran

Recently, President Trump has intensified his warnings to Iran, asserting that Tehran must agree to a meaningful nuclear agreement or “bad things will happen.” This comment comes amid ongoing indirect negotiations in Geneva, Switzerland, aimed at easing rising tensions. The U.S. and Iranian officials are reportedly engaged in behind-the-scenes discussions, focusing on addressing a severe nuclear standoff. The United States urges Iran to dismantle or significantly reduce its nuclear program, suggesting that its enrichment activities and growing stockpiles pose significant proliferation risks. In turn, Iran insists that its nuclear endeavors serve civilian purposes and maintains that enrichment is its sovereign right.

U.S. Military Buildup in the Region

As concerns grow regarding possible military action against Iran, the United States is mobilizing one of its largest concentrations of air power in the Middle East since the 2003 Iraq conflict. This military buildup includes advanced fighter jets such as F-35s, F-22s, F-15s, and F-16s, in addition to command-and-control aircraft and enhanced air defense systems. Currently, the U.S. Navy has 13 vessels operating in the Middle East and eastern Mediterranean, including the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and several missile-capable destroyers. Additionally, a second carrier, USS Gerald R. Ford, and its strike group are reportedly en route.

Critical Phase of Standoff Approaches

Reports indicate that U.S. military forces could be prepared for action as early as this weekend, although Trump has not yet authorized any strikes. Senior national security officials have been informed that all deployed military assets are expected to be in place by mid-March. With military resources rapidly increasing and diplomatic talks showing limited success, the situation continues to evolve, potentially defining whether Washington and Tehran can de-escalate their confrontation or move closer to open conflict.
