The CSR Journal Magazine

Decentro has celebrated significant recognitions during the 2026 award season, emerging as a leader in the fintech sector. The Bengaluru-based company received the title of Fintech Company of the Year at the India Fintech Awards 2026, hosted by the Unified Fintech Forum. This acknowledgment underscores its standing in the market, particularly with over 2,000 enterprises utilising its platform.

In addition to this accolade, Decentro also won the Embedded Finance Innovation Award at the fourth Bharat NBFC & FinTech Summit and Awards 2026. During the same event, Rohit Taneja, the company’s Founder and CEO, was honoured as the Emerging Leader of the Year, recognising his contributions to the industry under the age of 40.

The consistent recognition from different juries highlights Decentro’s substantial impact as a business innovator and the effective leadership driving its success. Such accolades point towards the company’s robust infrastructure, which distinguishes it from competitors in the financial technology landscape.

Innovative Infrastructure and Services

Decentro’s approach combines a comprehensive product infrastructure with regulated operational capabilities, a model that has reportedly transformed the fintech space. The company holds multiple important certifications, including RBI Payment Aggregator (PA) authorisations for both online and offline payments, an IFSCA Payment Service Provider licence through its entity in GIFT City, and UIDAI Offline Verification Seeking Entity certification.

This extensive infrastructure allows enterprises seamless access to bank-grade payment acceptance, identity verification, and related financial workflows through a unified integration layer. To date, over 2,000 enterprises spanning banking, lending, marketplaces, and consumer internet sectors have benefited from Decentro’s services, including major organisations like AU Small Finance Bank, BharatPe, and Meesho.

Decentro reports handling an impressive annual payment volume of more than $12 billion and performing over 120 million identity verifications each year. The firm has optimised integration timelines significantly, reducing them from several months to mere days, while also reportedly decreasing operational costs by approximately 30 per cent for enterprises adopting its platform.

Leadership and Vision

The leadership behind Decentro plays a critical role in its accomplishments. Rohit Taneja, a seasoned fintech entrepreneur, launched Decentro in 2020 alongside Pratik Daudkhane. Taneja previously co-founded Mypoolin, an early social payments platform that was acquired by Wibmo, which was later acquired by PayU. His extensive experience includes roles in product and engineering focused on payment gateways across various international markets.

Decentro has been backed by the prominent accelerator Y Combinator and offers an extensive range of over 150 APIs dedicated to payments, identity verification, and AI-assisted collections. Through its sustained efforts, the company has secured critical licences and expanded its offerings, including entering the cross-border payments arena with its regulatory permissions.

Taneja expressed that being honoured at multiple levels within the same year validates their team’s hard work. The company’s mission revolves around developing the foundational infrastructure, thus allowing organisations to launch and enhance financial products more efficiently. Decentro’s ethos focuses on promoting reliable and compliant solutions that can seamlessly integrate into consumer experiences.
