“T means Torture, M-murder and C-corruption; Bengalis Suffering from TMC’s Misrule”: Shivraj Singh Chouhan

The CSR Journal Magazine

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan voiced strong criticisms against the ruling All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal, characterizing its governance as marked by misrule and corruption. During an interview in Kolkata, Chouhan claimed that the citizens of West Bengal are enduring hardships as a direct result of the TMC’s policies.

He stated, “The people of Bengal are suffering from the misrule of TMC… TMC means Torture and tragedy. M represents Money, Murder, Mafia, while C stands for Corruption, Crime, and Cruelty.” He emphasized concerns regarding the treatment of women and alleged that unauthorized infiltrators are undermining the rights of the people, impacting their access to vital resources such as water, land, and forests.

BJP’s Political Campaign Initiated

Addressing the ongoing challenges faced by the state, Chouhan insisted that the state’s residents are prepared for a change in governance. The occasion coincided with the launch of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Parivartan Yatra, a campaign structured to engage with voters ahead of the upcoming 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections. Notably, BJP National President Nitin Nabin also criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during an earlier event, emphasizing the perceived failures of her administration to safeguard women’s rights and address illegal immigration.

Chief Minister’s Governance Under Scrutiny

Nabin remarked that Banerjee, prior to her rise to power, campaigned with the slogan “Maa, Mati, and Manush,” yet he accused her of failing to protect the women and children of the state. He referred to her recent suggestions that women should avoid going out during the evening hours, raising concerns about safety and cultural implications. He expressed dissatisfaction, stating, “In a culturally advanced state like Bengal, advising daughters to remain inside is unacceptable. You, Didi, did not listen to the pleas of the daughters of Bengal.” Nabin’s assertions were part of an effort to galvanize public support for the party’s mission, which aims to resonate with citizens regarding their safety and rights.

Focus on Illegal Immigration and National Security

During the Parivartan Yatra, Nabin declared the need to address illegal immigration and expressed that those benefiting from the ruling party’s support should be held accountable. He articulated, “Through the Parivartan Yatra, we want to convey a message to illegal immigrants in Bengal regarding their impending removal.” This campaign aligns with the BJP’s broader objectives of enhancing national security and addressing critical issues impacting governance in the state.

Statewide Campaign Goals Ahead of Assembly Elections

The Parivartan Yatra is planned as an expansive campaign across West Bengal, projected to encompass more than 5,000 kilometers. The initiative is set to include 63 major rallies and 282 smaller gatherings, culminating in a major rally at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata, which is anticipated to feature Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The BJP seeks to emphasize topics such as corruption, women’s safety, illegal immigration, and overall governance failures. The party aims to strengthen its grassroots initiatives through extensive outreach, targeting over one crore interactions with citizens to enhance organizational engagement at the booth level.
