The CSR Journal Magazine

The Telangana government has announced that the Telangana Advocates Protection Act, 2026, officially came into force on June 2. This legislation is designed to offer protective measures for advocates against various forms of violence, threats, harassment, and wrongful accusations. The government issued a formal order from the Law (D) Department, stating that the provisions outlined in the Act would commence immediately on this date.

According to the Government Order, the state utilised the authority granted under sub-section (3) of section 1 of the Act to declare June 2, 2026, as the starting date for its implementation. The order was signed by B Papi Reddy, who serves as the Secretary to the Government, overseeing Legal Affairs, Legislative Affairs, and Justice. It was issued in the name of the Governor of Telangana, ensuring its official standing.

Chief Minister’s Vision for Telangana

On the same day, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy outlined a comprehensive plan for the future of Telangana, coinciding with the state’s formation day celebrations. He introduced a vision named ‘Telangana Rising – 2047’, aiming to position the state as a significant economic player. The Chief Minister asserted that Telangana is on a trajectory towards reaching a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2034 and a three-trillion-dollar economy by 2047.

During his address, Reddy articulated the transformative potential of this plan, suggesting that it not only aims to elevate Telangana’s standing within India but also as a global hub for trade and development. He underscored the government’s commitment to making substantial advances in welfare and governance reforms as part of this ambitious vision.

The Chief Minister particularly emphasised the importance of housing as a fundamental aspect of dignity for the underprivileged. He remarked that owning a home represents a lifelong aspiration for many, pivotal to their self-respect. Reddy referenced the state’s key initiative, the Indiramma Housing Scheme, highlighting significant financial allocations for housing projects.

Welfare and Social Initiatives

In terms of housing development, Chief Minister Reddy noted that the government allocated Rs 22,500 crores within the first year of the scheme, with approvals for 4.50 lakh Indiramma houses. He reported that approximately one lakh homes have been completed in just over a year, and the remaining two lakh are projected for completion by September 17.

Addressing food security, Reddy stated that the government has greatly expanded its initiatives, having issued 15,12,000 new ration cards. He highlighted that this allows around 30,038,000 individuals to access nutritious meals prepared with high-quality rice. He connected these two welfare pillars—housing and food security—as essential components of the state’s development strategy.

The Chief Minister also focused on the necessity for enhanced protections for the elderly, lamenting the societal trend where children neglect their responsibilities toward caring for their ageing parents. He mentioned upcoming legislation aimed at ensuring accountability and better care for the senior demographic, reinforcing the government’s commitment to social reform in Telangana.
