The CSR Journal Magazine

One of the individuals involved in the stabbing of Saleem Wastik, an ex-Muslim YouTuber, was shot and killed during an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh Police on Sunday. The suspect, identified as Zeeshan, suffered two gunshot wounds during the incident. He was immediately transported to a local hospital in critical condition but later died from his injuries. Zeeshan was from Amroha, a city in Uttar Pradesh.

Details of the Attack

The police encounter occurred just days after Wastik was violently attacked at his residence located in the Loni area of Ghaziabad. On Friday, February 27, Wastik was stabbed multiple times in the neck and abdomen by two assailants. The attackers reportedly arrived on a motorcycle, entered Wastik’s home in the Ashok Vihar Colony, and fled the scene while still wearing helmets, making identification difficult.

Response from Authorities

In response to the attack, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath instructed law enforcement to take stringent measures and ensure that the individuals responsible for the assault were apprehended promptly. Following the incident, local residents who witnessed the commotion alerted the police, leading to a swift response.

Condition of Saleem Wastik

Initially, Wastik was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment but his condition worsened, prompting a referral to GTB Hospital in Delhi. Medical sources reported that his condition was extremely critical, given the severity of his injuries. Wastik is known for his controversial views regarding Islam and has a significant online presence as a YouTuber, with two channels featuring a total of 179 videos and approximately 28,400 subscribers. He has gained notoriety under the title ‘Ex-Muslim.’

Investigation and Manhunt

In the aftermath of the attack, the police registered a First Information Report (FIR) based on a complaint filed by Wastik’s son, Usman. The FIR named seven individuals as suspects in the case. To expedite the investigation, the Uttar Pradesh Police established ten special teams dedicated to capturing the assailants. Their efforts included extensive raids at four different locations in total, two situated in Delhi and two in Ghaziabad.

Ongoing Concerns

Several organizations and individuals have speculated that the attack may be linked to Wastik’s identity as an ex-Muslim and his outspoken views regarding religion. However, authorities have not made an official statement confirming the motive behind the attack. Law enforcement continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case and the individuals involved in the assault on Wastik.
