A festive night in Howrah turned tragic during Durga Puja on Tuesday when a resident of Bihar was shot dead in a sudden attack. The incident occurred in the Bane Behari Basu Lane area, sparking tension during the celebrations.

Attack While Walking Through Lane

According to police sources, the victim, identified as Suresh Yadav from Gopalganj, Bihar, was walking down the lane when three assailants on a motorcycle opened fire from behind. He was struck by multiple bullets and died on the spot.

Police suspect possible links between the victim and criminal elements, as his wife is reportedly a former panchayat chief in Gopalganj. Investigators are probing whether old rivalries or past disputes played a role in the killing.
