Bollywood actor and Bigg Boss host Salman Khan is in legal trouble. A Kota Consumer Court has issued a notice to the actor over a pan masala brand advertisement that has been stated as misleading by a petitioner. The case has been filed by senior BJP leader and Rajasthan High Court advocate Inder Mohan Singh Honey. The petitioner has accused the Bigg Boss host and manufacturers of Rajshree Pan Masala of surrogate advertising and false promotion.
What is the complaint against Salman Khan?
As per the petition, it is said that the company Rajshree Pan and its brand ambassador, Salman Khan, have misled the public by promoting the product as “saffron-infused cardamom” and “saffron-infused pan masala.” The petitioner claims that this statement is false and impossible. The petitioner pointed out that saffron costs almost ₹4 lakh per kilogram, while a pan masala pack is sold for ₹5, which is unrealistic.
The petition further read that advertisements like this are misleading and that youngsters fall into the trap and consume them, leading to mouth cancer.
In a conversation with the media, Honey said, “Salman Khan is a role model for millions. Celebrities in other countries refrain from endorsing even soft drinks, while our stars promote harmful products like tobacco and pan masala. We urge them to stop spreading the wrong message to youth.”
