The murder of Haryanvi singer Ankit Balyan, which took place in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh, has been classified as a result of a pre-planned conspiracy. Uttar Pradesh’s Director General of Police, Rajeev Krishna, stated on Monday that the attackers meticulously tracked Balyan’s movements and prepared weapons beforehand. This well-orchestrated attack occurred on August 26, 2026.

During a press conference at police headquarters in Lucknow, Krishna elaborated that the investigation has uncovered connections between the murder and a network associated with the Gogi gang. Specific details have emerged indicating that information about Balyan’s activities was collected prior to the attack, allowing the assailants to execute their plan effectively.

According to Krishna, two of the identified suspects, Mohit and Sumit, were involved in the attack and were later killed in a police encounter early on Monday. The DGP highlighted that Mohit had numerous criminal cases against him, while Sumit had one active case at the time of his death.

Police Operations Expand to Multiple Regions

Following the incident, police teams were formed to conduct raids across several areas within Uttar Pradesh as well as in neighbouring states, including Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Gujarat. Krishna indicated that the investigation has also included efforts in eastern Uttar Pradesh, demonstrating the wide-reaching implications of the case.

The DGP reported that a social media post allegedly made by an individual named Rahul, alias Bholu Shahpuria, claimed responsibility for Balyan’s murder soon after it occurred. This social media claim remains an active area of investigation.

Compounding the situation, gang rivalry linked to notorious gangster Jitender Mann, known as Gogi, is believed to have contributed significantly to the murder. Krishna noted that Balyan had previously participated in a YouTube video linked to Gogi’s criminal activities, which had reportedly attracted threats to his safety.

Police Vow Comprehensive Action Against All Involved

Addressing the media, Krishna characterised the case as a meticulous conspiracy involving multiple layers of planning, including the mobilising of shooters and the formulation of an escape strategy post-attack. He stressed the commitment of the Uttar Pradesh Police to pursue not only the shooters but also everyone involved in the conspiracy—from those who provided weapons to those who monitored Balyan’s whereabouts.

Krishna announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh for police and Special Task Force personnel involved in the recent operation, reinforcing the police’s determination to resolve the case. He assured that their efforts would not cease until all individuals implicated in the crime were brought to justice.

Family members of the victim, including his father Satbir Singh, wife Seema, and sister Reena, expressed their gratitude for the police’s swift action. They remain hopeful that all those responsible for the murder will be apprehended in due course, solidifying the need for justice in this high-profile case.
