RPSC, RSMSSB Delete 137 Questions; Recruitment Delays Continue

The CSR Journal Magazine

Lakhs of aspirants from Rajasthan who cleared the first hurdle of entrance test are stuck in waiting for months. Even after clearing the most difficult part, the written test, they waited for the process to complete, as the disputed questions unsettled, revised merit list still pending and above all court cases delayed.

Recent figures suggest 137 questions were deleted from 2024-25, the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSMSSB) and the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) collectively as they were incorrect, controversial, and in some cases factually inaccurate.

When questions get deleted, merit list shifts

As per candidates, when questions get deleted, it isn’t just a technical correction, but marks are redistributed among candidates, thus increasing the weightage of the rest of the questions.

As per records, the maximum number of 36 questions were deleted in the Grade III Teacher Recruitment Examination 2025. This was followed by Junior Accountant Recruitment 2023, 23 questions were deleted, 14 questions from LDC Recruitment 2024, and 10 each in the Class IV Recruitment 2024 and Patwari Recruitment 2025. Apart from that multiple questions were deleted from many exams, 14 from School Lecturer Recruitment, six from Assistant Mining Engineer Examination, four from Assistant Engineer Combined Examination, three questions from the Agriculture Officer Recruitment, and two from the Public Relations Officer Examination.

Teachers recruitment under scanner

The issue of question cancellation has been there especially in teacher recruitment examinations. Even in the case of the latest result that was declared on June 15, RSMSSB announced that 11 questions in Level 1 and 25 questions in Level 2 have been deleted.

Following the deletion, marks were equally divided among all candidates. Many candidates reached out to the courts and claimed 7 more questions were incorrect and that should also be cancelled.

This isn’t the first time that such controversy has happened, earlier in 2021 Teacher Recruitment Examination was cancelled twice, and finally happened in 2022. This after objections were raised against 81 questions.

Calling question deletion unfortunate, RSMSSB Chairman Alok Raj acknowledged that responsibility ultimately rests with the Board. Raj said that action against experts who are preparing questions are also been taken. He noted that Board is strengthening its question paper preparation so that there is bare minimum error.
