Ranveer Singh Visits Chamundeshwari Temple Following Court Mandate

The CSR Journal Magazine

Ranveer Singh, the prominent Indian actor, visited the Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysuru on the morning of May 26, 2026. This visit occurred a day after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a directive for non-cooperation with him due to his exit from the movie Don 3. The circumstances surrounding his departure reportedly resulted in significant financial repercussions, with losses estimated at Rs 45 crore for filmmaker Farhan Akhtar.

This temple visit was in compliance with a directive from the Karnataka High Court, following a controversial incident linked to a mimicry performance that allegedly offended the Kannadiga community. In April, after submitting a revised affidavit, Singh issued an unconditional apology, leading the court to indicate that the matter could soon be resolved.

The court mandated that Singh perform prayers at the Chamundeshwari Temple within a four-week timeframe, to which he obliged by offering special prayers to the deity. His visit was reportedly kept private, with the actor seen entering Mumbai airport early in the morning, concealed by a mask until reaching the temple’s sanctum sanctorum.

Background of the Mimicry Controversy

The controversy surrounding Ranveer Singh originated during the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India held in Goa on November 30, 2025. During this event, Singh mimicked a scene from the film Kantara, which features Rishab Shetty as both director and lead actor. The mimicry, which was captured on video and widely circulated on social media, attracted significant backlash from members of the Kannadiga community, who felt the portrayal was disrespectful.

In response to the escalating criticism, Singh took to Instagram to express his remorse, clarifying his intent to celebrate Shetty’s performance rather than to offend. He acknowledged the artistry behind the scene and conveyed his deep respect for various cultures and traditions in India, offering a heartfelt apology for any distress caused.

Rishab Shetty subsequently addressed the controversy at a public event, expressing discomfort with the situation and highlighting the sensitivity associated with the portrayal of the Daiva concept in his film. He urged others to refrain from performing the scene in a mocking manner, describing it as an emotionally significant aspect of their culture.

Current Status of Ranveer Singh’s Situations

In February 2026, following the fallout from the mimicry incident, Ranveer Singh sought relief from the Karnataka High Court after facing an FIR for allegedly offending the sentiments of the Kannadiga community. The court intervened, preventing authorities from taking any coercive actions against him during ongoing legal proceedings.

Singh’s temple visit also unfolds amidst a protracted dispute with the FWICE regarding his association with Don 3. The organisation has advised its members and technicians to refrain from collaborating with him until the issues surrounding the film are conclusively addressed. In a response to these developments, Singh’s spokesperson issued a statement denying the need for public commentary, reiterating his commitment to his work and the franchise.

The spokesperson emphasised that Singh prefers to uphold a dignified silence while navigating these challenges, maintaining respect and goodwill for all individuals involved. As the actor concludes his temple visit, he remains entangled in both the legal proceedings related to the Kantara incident and his ongoing conflict with FWICE over Don 3.
