Police Seize 75 LPG Cylinders, Arrest Three in Bhaderwah Hoarding Case

The CSR Journal Magazine

In Bhaderwah, Jammu and Kashmir, local police executed a successful raid on March 15, leading to the seizure of 75 LPG cylinders as part of an initiative against illegal hoarding and black-market activities. The operation resulted in the arrest of three individuals accused of engaging in the unlawful sale of LPG cylinders.

Details of the Arrests and Seizures

Following specific intelligence and directives from Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, Sandeep Mehta, a police team from Police Station Bhaderwah conducted the operation after receiving information about unauthorized sales in the area. During the raid, police apprehended three suspects. Abdul Hamid was found in possession of eight filled cylinders and 15 empty ones, while Ghulam Rasool had 28 filled and 24 empty cylinders, contributing to the total recovery of 75 cylinders.

Legal Action and Ongoing Investigation

As a result of the recovered goods, a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed under Section 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act at the Bhaderwah Police Station. Law enforcement officials have initiated further investigations into the case in an effort to delve deeper into the illegal activities.

Government Stance on LPG Supply

Authorities in Doda have emphasized their commitment to taking strict measures against those involved in the hoarding and black-marketing of essential commodities. These practices adversely affect the general public and disrupt fair distribution channels. The current global unrest in regions such as West Asia has contributed to a scarcity of LPG supplies.

Status of LPG and Fuel Supply Nationwide

The government has assured that there have been no occurrences of gas supply shortages at LPG distributorships across India. According to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, there has been a decline in LPG bookings, with approximately 77 lakh bookings recorded recently compared to 88.8 lakh bookings noted on March 13. This trend reflects the ongoing adjustments in supply and demand.

State Regulations and Distribution Efforts

Several states and Union Territories, including Bihar, Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan, have implemented measures to allocate non-domestic LPG in accordance with government directives. The Ministry has also made commercial LPG cylinders available to State Governments for prioritized distribution, ensuring availability for consumers across 30 states and Union Territories.

Fuel Supply Remains Stable Amid Concerns

Additionally, no reports of fuel shortages have been reported at retail locations by Oil Marketing Companies. Regular supplies of petrol and diesel continue to be maintained across the country. Citizens are urged to refrain from panic buying, as sufficient stocks of essential fuels are readily available nationwide.
