On March 19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his heartfelt wishes for the festive occasions of Navratri, Gudi Padwa, Cheti Chand, and Ugadi through two posts on X. In his message on the first day of Navratri, he emphasised the significance of worshiping Devi Shailaputri, the initial form of Maa Durga, praying for peace, order, and positive energy in the lives of everyone.

Navratri Greetings

The Prime Minister articulated his wishes by stating, “On the first day of Navratri, the ritual is to worship Devi Shailaputri. May her blessings infuse discipline, peace, and positive energy into everyone’s life.” In a further expression of devotion, he stated, “I bow to the one who grants desired boons, with the crescent moon adorning her crest. Mounted on a bull, wielding a trident, the glorious Shailaputri. My salutations and obeisance at the feet of the Mother of the Universe, Maa Durga, on behalf of millions of my fellow countrymen.” He also implored the Divine Mother for her affection and compassion for all people.

Wishes for Cheti Chand and Other Festivals

In a separate post, PM Modi shared his well-wishes for Cheti Chand, expressing his hope for a prosperous year for everyone. He stated, “Best wishes on Cheti Chand! Praying for a very good year.” Additionally, he extended warm greetings for Ugadi and Gudi Padwa, wishing all a joyful celebration with messages like “Have a wonderful Ugadi!” and “Greetings on Gudi Padwa.” These festivals signify the Hindu New Year and the arrival of spring, celebrated with various local names across different regions of India.

Devotional Gatherings across the Country

On the first day of Chaitra Navratri, numerous devotees congregated at various prominent temples, including Jhandewalan and Chhatarpur temples in Delhi, and Mumba Devi Temple in Mumbai. The atmosphere was filled with the sounds of bells and sacred hymns as the Aarti was conducted, marking the beginning of the nine-day festival dedicated to Goddess Durga. This illustrates the communal spirit and religious fervor associated with these significant observances.
