The CSR Journal Magazine

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday departed from Paris for India after completing a multi-city visit to France that included participation in the G7 Summit in Evian, an address at VivaTech 2026, interactions with the Indian diaspora and meetings with French leaders and business executives.

Reflecting on the visit, Modi said the trip had been “extensive” in terms of both engagements and outcomes and expressed confidence that the strategic partnership between India and France would continue to deepen in the years ahead.

PM Modi Highlights Key Engagements Across France

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said his visit began in Nice, where he attended the Bharat Innovates programme, before travelling to Evian for the G7 Summit and concluding in Paris with engagements focused on technology, business and the Indian community.

“This visit to France has been extensive when it comes to engagement and outcomes. It began in Nice, where the Bharat Innovates programme was held, followed by Evian for G7 and then in Paris, where I addressed VivaTech 2026 and a large community programme, as well as met CEOs. I am especially grateful to my friend President Macron, the Government and the people of France for the warmth. The India-France friendship will become even stronger in the times to come,” Modi wrote.

During the visit, the Prime Minister held discussions aimed at strengthening cooperation in areas including technology, innovation, trade and investment.

Focus on Technology and Innovation at VivaTech

One of the major highlights of the Paris leg of the visit was Modi’s participation in VivaTech 2026, one of Europe’s largest technology and startup events.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister highlighted India’s progress in technology, innovation and entrepreneurship and underlined the role of digital transformation in improving the lives of citizens.

In another post on X, he said, “Pleased to have spoken at VivaTech 2026 in Paris. There, I highlighted India’s remarkable progress in the fields of technology, innovation, and startups. I emphasised the way India uses technology to bring about positive change in the lives of its citizens.”

Modi also toured the exhibition space at the event alongside French President Emmanuel Macron.

“Accompanied by President Macron, I visited the exhibition space of VivaTech 2026. The energy and enthusiasm that prevail there are incredible!” he wrote.

Indian Diaspora Praised for Strengthening Cultural Ties

During his interaction with the Indian community in Paris, the Prime Minister praised members of the diaspora for carrying India’s values abroad and contributing to stronger cultural ties between India and France.

Describing Paris as a city of “lights, colours, ideas and innovation”, Modi said the Indian community had added to the vibrancy of the French capital through its cultural diversity.

He noted that people from different parts of India, including Tamils, Punjabis, Gujaratis, Marathis and Bengalis, had enriched the city’s social fabric.

PM Modi Highlights India’s Growing Global Role

Addressing the gathering, Modi said India’s transformation is being driven by the aspirations and efforts of its people and asserted that the country is playing an increasingly important role on the global stage.

He said the world now sees India not merely preparing for the future, but actively shaping it.

The Prime Minister also expressed confidence that India and France would continue expanding cooperation across sectors such as trade, technology, financial connectivity and people-to-people exchanges.

Modi’s visit to France formed part of a broader tour that also included Slovakia and featured a series of engagements aimed at strengthening India’s partnerships with European nations.
