Nitin Nabin Takes Oath as BJP National President, Becomes Youngest Party Chief in BJP History

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday formally ushered in a new phase of leadership as Nitin Nabin took oath as the party’s national president after being elected unopposed. At 45, Nabin has become the youngest leader and the 12th National President of the BJP, marking a clear generational transition at the top of India’s largest political party.

The oath-taking ceremony

The oath-taking ceremony was held at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi and was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and several other senior leaders. BJP chief ministers, national office bearers, state unit presidents, and members of the party’s national executive committee were also present, underscoring the broad organisational consensus behind Nabin’s elevation.

Prime Minister Modi felicitated the new party president, highlighting the BJP’s emphasis on organisational strength and continuity of leadership. The event symbolised a smooth change of guard, with outgoing president JP Nadda, now a Union minister, extending his support to his successor.

Nabin visits religious sites

Ahead of officially assuming charge, Nabin visited several prominent religious sites in the national capital, including the Jhandewalan Temple, Valmiki Temple, Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place, and Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, reflecting his personal faith and outreach across communities.

An undefeated five-time MLA from Bihar’s Bankipur Assembly constituency, Nitin Nabin is known for consistently winning elections by large margins. He rose rapidly within the party due to his organisational skills and strategic role in recent electoral successes, particularly in Chhattisgarh, where the BJP delivered decisive victories in both the 2023 Assembly elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Roots in RSS

Born in Ranchi and rooted in the RSS, Nabin is regarded as an ideologically committed leader with strong grassroots experience. His unopposed election, proposed by Prime Minister Modi and supported by senior leaders, signals the BJP’s confidence in his ability to steer the party through upcoming political challenges while representing a new generation of leadership.
