Allegedly, twelve individuals have died following Ukrainian attacks on holiday camps situated in the partly Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia region. According to Yevgeny Balitsky, the Kremlin-installed local head, among the deceased were four children, with an additional 19 people reportedly injured. An official statement from Ukraine regarding these claims was not immediately available.

This recent escalation follows a major Russian offensive near Kyiv the previous day, which resulted in at least ten fatalities and approximately 100 injuries. The situation remains volatile, with intermittent exchanges of fire reported from both sides, reflecting the ongoing intensity of the conflict.

Drone Strike Casualties in Sumy

In a separate incident, regional head Ivan Fedorov reported that a Russian drone attack on a shopping centre in Zaporizhzhia on Friday evening caused a fire that extended over an area of 500 square metres. Several individuals sustained injuries as a result of this attack, highlighting the ongoing threat to civilian infrastructure in the region.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during an address, indicated that intelligence assessments suggested Russia was gearing up for a substantial missile strike, possibly within the coming 48 hours. These developments underline the escalating hostilities as both sides continue to launch targeted attacks.

Drone Interceptions and International Developments

There have also been significant developments regarding drone incursions in neighbouring Romania. The Romanian defence ministry reported that its military successfully intercepted a drone that entered its airspace in an unpopulated area near the Ukrainian border. President Nicu Or Dan confirmed that an F-16 pilot conducted the interception. This incident follows another drone being shot down near Padina, northeast of Bucharest, thereby underscoring the risks posed to neighbouring nations involved in the conflict.

In the context of diplomatic efforts, a White House official indicated that US President Donald Trump and President Zelenskyy are set to meet on Tuesday. This announcement was made on the condition of anonymity due to the confidential nature of Trump’s schedule. Although Ukraine has not officially commented on the meeting, President Zelenskyy remarked that preparations were underway for discussions with the US administration.
