NEET UG 2026 Re-Examination: Security Measures Implemented Ahead of Test

The CSR Journal Magazine

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has introduced a range of stricter security protocols in light of recent allegations concerning irregularities and question paper leaks in major entrance examinations. With the NEET UG 2026 re-examination scheduled to take place in just a few days, the agency is focusing on enhancing the integrity of the test. Authorities are committed to ensuring that the examination is conducted transparently and without controversy.

Temporary Ban on Telegram

The Telegram app has been temporarily restricted in India ahead of the NEET UG 2026 re-examination, due to an increase in claims of leaked examination papers circulating on the platform. Numerous channels within Telegram had reportedly shared alleged question papers and edited screenshots, fuelling concerns over the examination’s fairness. In light of these developments, the NTA justified the ban, indicating that it was a necessary step to alleviate the spread of misinformation and to preserve the examination’s integrity.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has issued two directives concerning the app. The first directive places a temporary restriction on Telegram’s accessibility in India until June 22, encompassing both the examination date and its immediate aftermath. The second mandates that Telegram disable the editing of previously posted messages in India until June 30. The NTA has described these actions as “calibrated and bounded in time,” indicating that such measures were taken only after previous approaches, including the removal of problematic channels, failed to resolve the issue.

Role of the Indian Air Force

Sealed packets containing the question papers are being airlifted to around 18 regional hubs, where they will subsequently be distributed to various examination centres under strict supervision. This move aims to ensure that the papers remain secure during transit and that the entire process is meticulously monitored to avoid any further issues.
