Drugs worth Rs14.16 crore seized

Methamphetamine in both powder and crystal forms was recovered from the biscuit boxes. It was hidden very carefully to avoid detection during transit. Calling this operation, a major breakthrough, Ahmedabad Joint Commissioner of Police Jaipal Singh Rathod said, “This is a major operation against organised narcotics trafficking. Based on source-based intelligence received by the Zone-4 police team, surveillance was mounted near Nana Chiloda. The suspect was intercepted and examined under the provisions of the NDPS Act. During the search, 7.84 kilograms of methamphetamine were recovered from Mohammed Sajid Sheikh, a resident of Andheri West, Maharashtra. Courier transporter paid Rs 10,000 for the job

During questioning, new information emerged about the Nigerian national identified as “Cuban,” who is said to be the main handler in the trafficking network. Sheikh further disclosed that he was in contact with a Nigerian handler, who instructed him to travel from Jaipur bus stand Sindhi Camp to Mumbai. It has been revealed that an unidentified person handed Sheikh the bag filled with drugs at Sindhi Camp bus stand in Jaipur. So far, it seems Sheikh’s role was to transport the consignment through Ahmedabad and deliver it in Mumbai. This case revealed multiple layers in which couriers like Sheikh allegedly handle transportation, while those operating the network stay away from various intermediary layers. Shocking details have been revealed by Sheikh, the alleged courier transporter. He said he was paid just Rs 10,000 for transporting the drugs worth Rs14 crore.

The methamphetamine consignment weighs 7.084 kilograms with a value of Rs 20,000 per gram. The courier transporter Sheikh has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Currently police are looking for the Nigerian handler and the Jaipur-based supplier. A probe has been launched and all digital evidence, communication records and financial transactions are being checked to trace the syndicate.
