Man Allegedly Poisons Mother Following Demand from Mother-in-Law

The CSR Journal Magazine

A disturbing case has emerged from Agra district in Uttar Pradesh, where a man has been arrested for allegedly poisoning his mother. The police investigation is ongoing following a First Information Report (FIR) that names both the accused and his mother-in-law. The incident was reported in Barpura village, located within the jurisdiction of the Pinahat police station.

The FIR states that the alleged poisoning incident occurred around 3 pm on July 9. The accused, identified as Ravindra, reportedly mixed a toxic substance into a dish of chole and served it to his mother, Rammoorti. After consuming the meal, Rammoorti became gravely ill and required immediate hospitalisation. She is currently receiving treatment for her condition.

Allegations Involving the Mother-in-Law

The complaint against Ravindra was filed by his father, Ranveer Singh, who claims that the accused confessed to him that the poison had been supplied by his mother-in-law, Phoolwati. According to the FIR, Phoolwati allegedly summoned Ravindra to Gatpura village, where she handed him a package containing the poisonous substance. The report claims she instructed him that his wife would return to live with him solely if he “removed” his mother from the picture.

This aspect of the FIR is currently under scrutiny as part of the broader police investigation. Authorities have stated that they are taking all allegations seriously and will thoroughly evaluate the claims against both Ravindra and Phoolwati.

Family Ties and Disputes Come to Light

Ravindra’s brother, Mukesh, has suggested that the family has been embroiled in a land dispute, contributing to the tensions within the household. He alleged that Ravindra’s wife had been living at her parental residence, and her mother allegedly conditioned her return on the poisoning of Ravindra’s mother. Mukesh further claims that it was under these circumstances that Ravindra prepared the poisoned meal.

The police are currently considering these family dynamics as significant factors in their investigation. They aim to ascertain the motivations behind the alleged crime while keeping the focus on the well-being of the victim and the overall community.

Ongoing Police Investigation

Authorities have filed a case against both Ravindra and his mother-in-law, Phoolwati, under Sections 61, 109, and 123 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Following the arrest of Ravindra, further steps in the investigation are pending based on medical reports and forensic examinations. Law enforcement officials have emphasised that any subsequent actions will rely heavily on the evidence collected during the investigation.

The police have assured the public that the allegations outlined in the FIR are being investigated carefully, and that the ultimate conclusions regarding this case will depend on scientific findings as well as the outcomes of any legal proceedings. They maintain that transparency will be upheld throughout the process.

This case highlights the complex nature of familial relationships and disputes, as law enforcement navigates the delicate responsibility of addressing such serious allegations. As the investigation continues, authorities encourage any additional witnesses or individuals with information to come forward to aid in a thorough resolution.
