According to police reports, around 23,000 paramilitary personnel from 295 companies are currently stationed throughout Tamil Nadu. These forces are actively involved in security operations aimed at maintaining a peaceful voting environment. The considerable presence of security personnel indicates the significance accorded to ensuring safety during the elections.

Special task forces, numbering 12,150, have also been assigned specific responsibilities to oversee various aspects of the polling process.

Deployment Statistics and Sensitive Areas

In addition to active security forces, around 20,000 retired military personnel and former officers from the police and forest departments have been engaged for the election’s security measures. These individuals augment the efforts of active personnel, contributing their experience to the polling process.

To address potential disturbances, task force personnel are equipped with 514 vehicles to allow rapid responses. Moreover, rapid response teams are positioned in 1,100 vehicles across the state. Senior police officials, including Deputy Superintendents and Police Commissioners, are also on-site to oversee operations and ensure readiness for any incidents.

The police have identified roughly 6,300 locations in Tamil Nadu as sensitive, prompting additional security measures in these areas. Notably, 118 constituencies characterised by high cash flow have been assigned more police personnel to deter any potential election-related violations.

Consistent Monitoring of Polling Stations

Within Chennai’s jurisdiction, there are 24 Assembly constituencies with 198 polling stations classified as sensitive.
