A close affiliate of imprisoned gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, Karamveer Singh, was deported from Canada and subsequently apprehended by Punjab Police at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi on September 15, 2026. The arrest was made by the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), marking a significant development in the fight against organised crime across borders. Authorities have described this incident as a crucial success in their efforts to track down individuals involved in such illicit activities.

Criminal Associations and Activities

Karamveer Singh is accused of facilitating logistical support and providing accommodation to Anmol Bishnoi, Lawrence Bishnoi’s younger brother, during Anmol’s time in the United States. Punjab Police have noted that Singh is wanted in connection with severe charges, including violations of the Arms Act and Passport Act. Earlier this month, the police issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against him, indicating the seriousness of the allegations facing him.

According to Punjab Police, Karamveer Singh has a substantial criminal record comprising cases related to murder, attempted murder, robbery, extortion, and various other criminal offences. Gaurav Yadav, the Director General of Police for Punjab, acknowledged the importance of this arrest in a public statement, characterising it as a “major breakthrough against transnational organised crime.” The implications of Karamveer’s connections with well-known criminals, particularly those associated with the Bishnoi gang, have sparked significant interest from law enforcement agencies.

Reports suggest that Anmol Bishnoi had also resided in Karamveer’s house while in the United States. A video depicting Anmol enjoying a party with prominent Punjabi singers went viral, believed to have been filmed at Karamveer’s residence. Furthermore, Karamveer is allegedly implicated in providing legal assistance and shelter to various members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang who reached the US during a period of increasing scrutiny and enforcement actions by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Further Investigations Following Deportation

After relocating to Canada amid FBI operations against gang members in the United States, Karamveer Singh was later deported back to India. Following his arrival, Punjab Police swiftly took him into custody for further questioning. DGP Yadav mentioned that ongoing investigations aim to uncover the broader criminal network and operational methods linked to Karamveer.

Authorities are working diligently to ascertain the extent of Karamveer’s involvement in organised crime, particularly concerning any further affiliations with international crime syndicates. This event not only reinforces law enforcement’s commitment to addressing transnational crime but also highlights ongoing collaborations between Indian authorities and international agencies in managing complex criminal activities.

The Punjab Police have reiterated their resolve to combat organised crime by monitoring and apprehending individuals involved in such operations, both locally and abroad. Further updates regarding Karamveer Singh’s case are anticipated as investigations continue to unfold, focusing on his connections and potential criminal undertakings.
