Cristiano Ronaldo is inching closer to a remarkable career milestone that once seemed nearly unattainable. The Portuguese forward has increased his career goal tally to 985 after scoring a hat-trick in just 15 minutes, leading Al Nassr to a 5-3 victory against Al Kholood in the Saudi Pro League on Thursday. This performance not only showcased his enduring talent but also highlighted his significant contributions to his current club.

The match began with a competitive first half, ending in a 2-2 draw. However, Ronaldo took control of the game in the second half. He netted his first goal in the 66th minute, followed by another in the 72nd, before completing his hat-trick in the 81st minute. This hat-trick marked his seventh for Al Nassr since joining the club in 2023, further solidifying his status as a key player.

A Celebration of Achievements

In addition to his on-field success, Ronaldo had another reason to celebrate on Thursday. The 41-year-old was awarded the inaugural B.O.A.T. (Ballon d’Or of All Time) award. His 2008 season at Manchester United, during which he won the Ballon d’Or, was chosen over Lionel Messi’s 2012 campaign in a fan vote. This accolade adds to his impressive collection of five official Ballon d’Or awards, highlighting his long-standing excellence in football.

The recent hat-trick not only brings him closer to the 1,000-goal milestone but also serves as a reminder of his relentless pursuit of greatness. Ronaldo has expressed his ambition to reach this significant number, stating that it remains one of his primary goals. He emphasised the importance of maintaining fitness and avoiding injuries as crucial factors in achieving this target.

Ronaldo’s performance on Thursday also increased his career hat-trick total to 67. He has achieved the most hat-tricks while playing for Real Madrid, where he scored 44 trebles. Additionally, he has netted 10 for Portugal, seven for Al Nassr, three for Manchester United, and three for Juventus, showcasing his consistent ability to find the back of the net across various leagues and competitions.

Impact on Al Nassr’s Title Defence

Ronaldo’s goals have played a vital role in keeping Al Nassr in contention for the Saudi Pro League title this season. Following the victory over Al Kholood, the team is currently level on points with league leaders Al Qadsiah, both having 28 points. However, Al Nassr has played one match fewer, giving them a strategic advantage as the season progresses.

On the other hand, Al Kholood remains in a challenging position, sitting in 10th place with 12 points. The disparity in points and positions highlights the competitive nature of the league and the significance of Ronaldo’s contributions to Al Nassr’s campaign.

As Ronaldo continues to perform at a high level, both his individual achievements and his impact on his team’s success will be closely monitored. His pursuit of 1,000 career goals is not only a personal ambition but also a testament to his enduring legacy in the world of football.
