The CSR Journal Magazine

A fire at a shoe manufacturing factory in Delhi’s Mangolpuri Industrial Area Phase-I resulted in the deaths of four individuals and left two others injured. The incident occurred on Friday night, specifically around 9.30 pm, at the premises located at B-293/294. The victims were found unconscious within the factory and were promptly transported to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, where medical staff confirmed the fatalities.

Emergency services responded swiftly, with police and multiple fire tenders arriving at the scene to initiate a rescue operation. Firefighters worked for several hours to control the blaze, which had engulfed multiple floors of the facility. A total of six individuals were rescued from the factory, all of whom were unconscious at the time of their extraction.

Upon arrival at the hospital, four of the rescued individuals were declared dead, while the remaining two are currently receiving medical care. Preliminary reports indicate that approximately 20 to 25 people were present in the factory when the fire broke out, with 18 to 19 managing to escape before the situation escalated.

Fire Details and Response

The fire reportedly originated on the ground floor and in the basement of the factory before spreading to the third floor. Investigators suspect that the presence of chemicals and raw materials used in shoe production may have accelerated the fire’s spread. Fire tenders were deployed to combat the flames, and rescue operations were conducted to evacuate those trapped inside.

Firefighters worked diligently to bring the situation under control, and search operations continued to ensure that no additional individuals were trapped within the building. The rapid response from emergency services was crucial in managing the incident, although the loss of life has raised significant concerns regarding safety protocols in industrial settings.

As the fire was brought under control, firefighters remained on-site to monitor for any potential flare-ups and to assist in the ongoing rescue efforts. The situation was complicated by the materials stored in the factory, which posed additional risks during firefighting operations.

Investigation Underway

The Delhi Police have initiated an investigation into the incident, with a focus on determining the cause of the fire. At this stage, the exact circumstances leading to the outbreak have not been officially confirmed. Authorities are examining the conditions within the factory, including whether adequate fire safety measures were in place.

This tragic event has once again highlighted the need for stringent fire safety regulations in Delhi’s industrial areas, particularly in factories that handle combustible materials. The investigation will seek to clarify the safety protocols that were adhered to at the time of the fire and whether any violations occurred.

Further information regarding the identities of the deceased and injured individuals is expected to be released as the investigation progresses. The incident has sparked discussions about the importance of enforcing fire safety standards to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
