“Threatened, Insulted”: TV Journalist Files Complaint Against BJP’s Rajeev Chandrasekhar

The CSR Journal Magazine

A journalist from Kairali TV, the CPI(M)-aligned channel, has filed a formal complaint against BJP Kerala state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar, accusing him of threatening, insulting, and shouting at her during a media briefing as reported by India Today. The incident occurred on Sunday when the journalist questioned him about the death of BJP councillor K Anil Kumar.

The Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) condemned Chandrasekhar’s response, saying, “In addition to insulting and threatening women, the state president has also shown intolerant behavior towards the media.”

Allegations and Reaction

According to the complaint, Chandrasekhar responded aggressively to the journalist’s questions, particularly after learning that she worked for Kairali TV. In a viral video, he is seen using the disrespectful Malayalam word “Nee” (“you”) while addressing her, a term considered rude in this context. The journalist has demanded that a criminal case be registered against him.

The Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) condemned Chandrasekhar’s behavior, stating that his actions not only insulted and threatened the female journalist but also demonstrated an intolerant attitude towards the media. The organization has called for immediate action and extended support to the journalist.

Unnatural Death of BJP Councillor

The incident came amid controversy surrounding the death of BJP councillor K Anil Kumar, who was found hanging in his office. The police have registered a case of unnatural death. BJP leaders have claimed that his death was part of a conspiracy involving the CPI(M) and the police.

However, the CPI(M) dismissed these allegations, pointing out that the suicide note mentioned only a lack of support from “one’s own people,” without naming any party or police involvement.
