Jaipur on edge: Fresh Assembly bomb scare sparks massive security drill

The CSR Journal Magazine

On Friday the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly received a bomb threat, causing a quick response across the Assembly building. Assembly secretariat received an anonymous email warning of an explosion inside the Assembly around 1 pm. As a precautionary measure, police and security agencies took immediate action. The entire area was cordoned off and placed under high security. Once the information circulated, Commandos and bomb disposal squads immediately secured the premises, and dog squads conducted an extensive search operation. Everything from gardens, parking areas, and corridors to office rooms was scanned properly.

Emergency protocols activated

Precautionary measures were taken, staff and officers were immediately evacuated, and the entire premise was vacated. Many people were stopped at the gate and asked to stay or leave until the situation was properly assessed and clearance was given. According to officials, immediate action was taken and security protocols were activated.

In recent days, Jaipur’s major establishments like the Assembly, High Court, Session Court, and airport have received threatening emails, prompting emergency responses.

Political Firestorm

While agencies handled the emergency situation, a political debate began after former CM Ashok Gehlot and Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully were not allowed to enter the Assembly premises. While addressing the media, they criticized the current government and pointed out the recent pattern of “Hoax” threats.

Currently, cyber experts are trying to find out the digital trail of the emails and solve the situation as this is the fourth threat.

Even though the earlier threats, like today’s, were hoaxes, they have put pressure on Jaipur’s cybercrime unit. Initial investigation revealed masked IP addresses. Gehlot tweeted, “The manner in which the law and order situation and security in Rajasthan are being mocked is extremely unfortunate. Receiving a threat to once again blow up the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly with a bomb is no ordinary matter. Just a few days ago, a similar threat had been made.”
