Isuzu Motors India, the subsidiary of Japan’s Isuzu Motors Limited, has officially appointed Takeshi Hirano as the new Deputy Managing Director, taking over from Toru Kishimoto. Hirano is currently affiliated with the Isuzu Business Division at Mitsubishi Corporation in Japan, where he has amassed over twenty years of expertise in distribution and marketing for the Isuzu brand across various global markets. His extensive career includes numerous leadership positions overseeing operational functions in multiple regions for both Isuzu Motors and Mitsubishi Corporation.

Experience with the Indian Market

Hirano has prior experience in the Indian market, having served as Vice President for Sales and Marketing at Isuzu Motors India during his earlier career. In this role, he significantly contributed to establishing the company’s foundational sales and marketing frameworks during its initial growth phase in India. His appointment as Deputy Managing Director marks a notable leadership change, with Kishimoto transitioning to a new role within Isuzu Motors’ headquarters in Japan.

Company Overview

Founded in August 2012, Isuzu Motors India operates out of its headquarters in Chennai, which oversees the company’s sales, marketing, and manufacturing functions in the nation. The company offers a diverse portfolio of passenger vehicles that includes the lifestyle-oriented Isuzu DMAX VCross, the adaptable Isuzu HiLander, and the luxurious seven-seat SUV Isuzu muX. In the commercial vehicle sector, Isuzu provides various models from the DMAX pick-up range, including S-CAB, S-CAB Z, and Regular Cab variants.

New Product Launches

Recently, Isuzu expanded its product offerings by launching a fully built ambulance that adheres to AIS-125 Type C specifications. This introduction aims to enhance the company’s foothold in the specialized vehicle segment, reflecting Isuzu’s commitment to meeting various market needs in India.

Manufacturing Capabilities

Isuzu’s manufacturing operations for the Indian market are conducted at its facility located in Sri City. Spanning 107 acres, this plant commenced production in April 2016, emphasizing quality and local sourcing. In February 2020, Isuzu further advanced its manufacturing capabilities by inaugurating Phase-II, which introduced a cutting-edge press shop and an engine assembly plant. This expansion marks a significant progress in bolstering Isuzu’s production capacity and reaffirms the company’s long-term dedication to the Indian marketplace.
