Iranian Parliament Discusses $58 Million Bounty on Trump and Netanyahu

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Iranian Parliament is currently deliberating on a bill that proposes a $58 million bounty for the assassination of former US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This move reflects the escalating tensions amid fragile diplomatic negotiations with the United States.

According to statements from Iranian officials reported by state media, the proposed legislation is set to be evaluated soon. The bill suggests that financial rewards be offered to anyone who succeeds in killing Trump, Netanyahu, or Admiral Brad Cooper, the commander of US Central Command. Ebrahim Azizi, the head of Iran’s National Security Commission, has described the initiative as “reciprocal action by military and security forces of the Islamic Republic.”

Azizi articulated on state television that such targeting is justified, condemning Trump and Netanyahu as “vile” figures, and asserting Iran’s right to respond following the killing of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during attacks earlier this year. He stated that the actions being discussed were a necessary response to the violence faced by Iran.

Warnings of Retaliation from Iranian Officials

Mahmoud Nabavian, an Iranian MP and cleric, echoed sentiments in Parliament asserting the necessity of rewarding actions that would “send Trump and Netanyahu to hell.” This pronouncement comes amid increasing fears within Iran regarding potential military actions against its current Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.

Iranian authorities have issued stark warnings that any future military actions targeting the country or its leadership would lead to a “devastating” counter-response. Groups aligned with Iran have reportedly initiated campaigns to gather financial resources to encourage attacks against Trump, notably through an initiative named “Blood Covenant.” Reports indicate substantial funds were amassed following strikes on Iranian nuclear sites earlier in the year.

These declarations of violence and retribution follow a backdrop of ongoing negotiations aimed at achieving peace between Iran and the United States. Despite the tensions, both nations appear to be engaged in complex diplomacy.

Peace Negotiations Progress Amid Heightened Threats

Amidst these serious threats, Iran has submitted a revised 14-point peace proposal to the US through intermediaries in Pakistan. This plan encompasses a range of demands, including the lifting of sanctions, the release of frozen Iranian assets, and an end to the US naval blockade, as well as compensation for damages incurred during conflicts involving the US and Israel.

However, officials from the Trump administration have expressed scepticism about the proposal, indicating that it does not significantly differ from previous assertions made by Iran. A senior US official noted that substantive progress has not been achieved in the discussions.

President Trump has indicated that the US remains on the brink of potential military confrontation with Iran, revealing that he was close to approving a military strike before opting to allow more time for diplomatic engagements, especially after receiving Iran’s recent propositions.

In his statements, Trump remarked on the persistent threat of military action, suggesting that timing was crucial to prevent Iran from developing new nuclear capabilities. Similarly, Netanyahu has maintained that military options are still viable.

The situation continues to generate concern among Gulf states, which fear that recent ceasefires could deteriorate at any moment. Trump cautioned that a failure in negotiations could result in severe consequences for Iran.
