An Indian-origin restaurateur based in London has announced the impending closure of his restaurant after 16 years of operation, citing a multitude of difficulties. Harman Singh Kapoor, the proprietor of Rangrez located in Hammersmith, revealed his decision on social media platform X, highlighting several concerns including increasing operational costs, ongoing online harassment, and repeated disturbances that he attributes to Pakistani groups. Kapoor stated that the restaurant will cease operations next month, marking the end of what he described as “16 unforgettable years.” He expressed in his post that the accumulated pressures had rendered it untenable to continue the business.

In his announcement, Kapoor indicated a shift in focus towards activism following the closure of Rangrez. He expressed confidence that the attempts to disrupt his business would not diminish his determination. He stated, “Now it’s time for me to dedicate myself fully to activism without distraction.” Kapoor emphasized that his commitment to his causes will only strengthen as he moves forward without the burdens associated with running a restaurant. In a message of gratitude, he thanked the many customers who have supported Rangrez throughout its years of operation.
