Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth highlighted the government’s dedication to creating a self-sufficient defence ecosystem, asserting a vision for India to become a developed nation by 2047. During a recent address at a defence sector event, Seth noted the ambition to evolve the Indian Air Force into the most formidable force globally, utilising indigenous capabilities and fostering innovation.

Seth articulated the importance of India’s historical commitment to peace, rooted in the ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. However, he underlined that India is equally prepared to confront any threats to its national sovereignty and security. The Defence Minister stressed the vital contributions of defence industries, startups, academic institutions and the armed forces in shaping future military capabilities. He remarked that soldiers engaged on the front lines are supported by innovations and technologies developed in factories across the nation.

Seth urged defence manufacturers and innovators to prioritise the evolving needs of warfare and emerging technologies. He articulated that delays in procuring essential technologies could have national security implications. “The world is progressing rapidly; we cannot become complacent with our current achievements,” he remarked, advocating for continuous advancement.

Praising India’s vibrant startup ecosystem, Seth acknowledged that Indian entrepreneurs have the capability to compete on a global scale. He noted, “Our startups are on par with the best globally, and the energy and talent from India’s youth will be instrumental in shaping the future of the country’s defence.”

Seth called attention to the distinctive spirit of the Indian armed forces, comparing their teamwork and determination to a concept where “1+1 equals 11.” He articulated this as a testament to unity and commitment among personnel.
