Himachal Pradesh Government Offers Free HRTC Bus Travel for NEET-UG 2026 Aspirants

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Himachal Pradesh Government has introduced a scheme to provide free bus travel for candidates participating in the NEET-UG 2026 examination. This move aims to alleviate transportation challenges faced by students travelling to exam centres across the state. The initiative was triggered by directives from the state’s Transport Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, Mukesh Agnihotri, who emphasised the importance of supporting aspiring medical students.

Effective from June 20 to June 22, this facility will be operational on ordinary buses managed by the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC). The government has instructed all unit officials within HRTC to extend this service to all candidates scheduled to take the examination during these dates.

In his statements, Mr. Agnihotri highlighted the significant number of students who commute from remote areas to reach their designated examination centres. The decision aims to ensure that no candidate faces transportation-related difficulties, allowing them to arrive without added stress and financial concerns.

Details of the Free Travel Scheme

Under the new travel scheme, candidates will be permitted one complimentary journey from their residence to the examination centre and one return journey. To utilise this service, students must present their NEET admit card, which will function as valid proof of identity and eligibility for the transportation benefit.

The introduction of this initiative underscores the government’s commitment to facilitating a smooth examination experience for students. The authorities are cognisant of the various logistical challenges candidates face, and this measure aims to ensure accessibility for all, regardless of their location.

The Deputy Chief Minister expressed hopes that this support would alleviate some of the pressures that students and their families may experience while preparing for the exam. By removing transportation hurdles, the government intends to create an environment conducive to effective examination performance.

Government’s Commitment to Education and Support

In addition to the travel initiative, Mr. Agnihotri extended his best wishes to all candidates preparing for the NEET-UG examination. He affirmed the state government’s ongoing dedication to nurturing the academic aspirations of the youth. This commitment reflects the administration’s broader goal of facilitating opportunities for students in competitive examinations.

With a focus on promoting education, the government aims to empower students to excel through their hard work and talent. Mr. Agnihotri’s confidence in the capabilities of Himachal Pradesh students is evident, as he believes that they will contribute significantly to the state’s honour and development through their achievements in various disciplines.

As the NEET-UG 2026 approaches, the government continues to implement measures aimed at enhancing the examination experience for candidates. These initiatives indicate a recognition of the crucial role that logistical considerations play in educational success, thereby fostering an environment where students can thrive academically.
