Several bodies were reportedly washed out of their graves following extensive rainfall that caused significant waterlogging and soil erosion in a cemetery located in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The cemetery, situated along a highway in the district, experienced severe accumulation of water over three days of relentless downpour. The force of water reportedly eroded the soil covering multiple graves, leading to the exposure of several bodies. Local residents, assisted by police, worked to recover the remains.

Footage showing the damage to the graves circulated on social media, eliciting a strong emotional response from the community. Upon learning about the situation, numerous villagers congregated at the cemetery to offer support and assistance in managing the aftermath. Police units also arrived to provide aid, ensuring that the recovery efforts proceeded in an orderly manner.

Reburial of Exposed Bodies

The exposed remains were reburied with appropriate religious rites and respect in a higher, safer section of the cemetery.
