Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has announced new measures aimed at making gaushalas self-sufficient and financially stable. This announcement was made during a meeting of the High-Powered Purchase Committee held in Chandigarh on July 20, 2026. The Chief Minister noted the introduction of 820 e-rickshaws to be distributed across gaushalas in the state for the effective management and care of livestock.

According to the Chief Minister, gaushalas housing up to 1,000 cattle are set to receive one e-rickshaw each, while those accommodating more than 1,000 cattle will be allocated two e-rickshaws. The total cost approved for this procurement is Rs 10.25 crore. Currently, there are 770 gaushalas in Haryana, with a significant majority hosting fewer than 1,000 cattle.

Data presented in the meeting indicates that among these, 553 gaushalas house under 1,000 cattle, while 79 accommodate up to 2,000, 20 have up to 3,000, and eight have up to 4,000 cattle. Additionally, there are two gaushalas which can house up to 6,000 cattle.

Infrastructure Development in Kaithal

In keeping with the state’s infrastructural goals, the Chief Minister also approved the laying of sewer lines in various colonies located in Kaithal city at a projected cost of Rs 12.87 crore. This project aims to enhance sewerage facilities for a significant portion of the city’s residents and is designed to accommodate the population requirements up to the year 2042.

Furthermore, the meeting saw the approval of upgrades to the Water Sewerage Treatment Plant and the construction of a reinforced cement concrete (RCC) tank at Khedar, which is estimated to cost Rs 27.70 crore. These upgrades are intended to facilitate improved water management in the region.

The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of these developments in the context of a growing population and urbanisation, aiming to provide long-term solutions to water and hygiene issues in Kaithal.

Water Supply Initiatives in Faridabad

Additional approvals were made for water supply enhancements in Faridabad. The installation of five Ranney wells, each with the capacity of 10 million litres per day (MLD), was greenlit at a cost of Rs 164.75 crore. These wells are to be located in the waterlogged areas along the Yamuna River, specifically near the villages of Manjhawali and Mothuka.

The water extracted from these wells will undergo rigorous testing to determine its suitability as a drinking water source, thus aiming to ensure safe access to clean water for the residents of the area.

Moreover, a construction project for a second 100 MLD capacity water works at Basai village, under the aegis of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), has been sanctioned. This venture is projected to cost Rs 149 crore and is seen as pivotal in improving the water supply infrastructure.

The Chief Minister further revealed that development works worth Rs 380.40 crore had been tendered at Rs 363.82 crore, resulting in savings of around Rs 16.58 crore. He emphasised that all projects should be completed within the stipulated time frame while maintaining high-quality standards, indicating a strict expectation for on-time delivery of services and infrastructure improvements.
