On September 28, 2026, Haryana’s Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini inaugurated the ‘Drug-Free Haryana Faridabad Namo Marathon-2026’ at Surajkund, Faridabad. This event witnessed participation from over 1.35 lakh individuals, reflecting a strong community commitment towards combating drug addiction.

The marathon not only drew participants from various backgrounds but also showcased a vibrant unity against substance abuse. The venue brimmed with enthusiasm as youth, women, senior citizens, and sportspersons came together to support the initiative. It transformed Surajkund into a vibrant symbol of societal resolve against drug-related issues.

Registered participants engaged in various categories of the marathon, covering distances of 21 kilometres, 10 kilometres, and 5 kilometres. Despite the differing distances and paces, the shared goal remained consistent: fostering a drug-free environment in Haryana.

Message of Social Unity and Healthy Living

The event transcended a traditional marathon, serving as a powerful message promoting de-addiction, fitness, and social unity. Participants embraced the opportunity to encourage a healthy lifestyle through their involvement, and many expressed their motivation to promote positive choices among their peers.

Notably, the participation of women and senior citizens highlighted that the movement against drugs transcends age and gender, reinforcing the notion that every member of society has a role in this collective fight. The event encouraged a discourse around the importance of health and cohesion in the community.

Chief Minister Saini acknowledged the dedication demonstrated by participants, who embodied the spirit of unity and resilience in opposing drug use. This collective effort aims not only at raising awareness but also at inspiring individuals to focus on constructive pursuits.

Chief Minister’s Call to Action for Youth

During the marathon, Chief Minister Saini addressed participants and reiterated his call for the youth to reject drug usage. He asserted that the identity of Haryana is built on hard work, resilience, and achievements. He urged young people to channel their talents into sports, education, and employment opportunities rather than drugs.

The Chief Minister emphasised the detrimental effects of drugs, which he stated weaken individuals, disrupt families, and erode societal values. His message aimed to instil a sense of responsibility among the youth to embrace healthier choices and contribute positively to society.

By promoting alternative avenues for youth, such as sports and education, the Chief Minister seeks to motivate them towards pursuing excellence rather than succumbing to negative influences. His appeal was not just for individual well-being, but also for the collective strength of Haryana.
