Following news of his passing, Akhilesh Yadav, the chief of the Samajwadi Party, expressed his condolences through a post on X, where he referred to the event as “extremely heartbreaking.”

In his post, Yadav extended prayers for peace for Chaudhary’s soul and offered strength to his bereaved family. He stated, “Heartfelt tribute!” confirming the deep sense of loss felt across party lines. Notably, other politicians, including BJP minister Daya Shankar Singh, also paid their respects, indicating the broad impact of Chaudhary’s work in the political sphere.

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, conveyed his sorrow over Chaudhary’s death, calling it “extremely heartbreaking.” On X, he prayed that the deceased would attain eternal peace and that his family would find solace amid their grief. He described Chaudhary as a significant figure who contributed to the political landscape of Uttar Pradesh.

Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also shared his condolences, echoing similar sentiments of sorrow. He acknowledged Chaudhary’s influential role as both a former Leader of the Opposition and Minister in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. Maurya urged divine intervention to grant Chaudhary a place at the feet of Lord Shri Ram and offered prayers for strength to his grieving family.

Legacy of Ram Govind Chaudhary

Ram Govind Chaudhary was a prominent socialist leader, known for his active participation in the socialist movement in India. Born on July 9, 1953, in Gosaipur, Ballia, he is remembered as a key link between contemporary socialist leaders and the historical figures like Jayaprakash Narayan and Ram Manohar Lohia. Throughout his political career, he was elected as a Member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly for eight consecutive terms.

From 1977 to 1992, Chaudhary represented the Chilkahar constituency, after which he served the Bansdih Assembly seat from 2002 onwards. His leadership in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly spanned various critical roles, including serving as the Leader of the Opposition from 2017 to 2022. He was actively involved in ministerial portfolios, overseeing departments such as Horticulture, Food Processing, Basic Education, and Child Development and Nutrition in the respective governments led by Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav.
