Rule Of Law Has Replaced Mafia Rule In UP

The CSR Journal Magazine

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that the state has transitioned from mafia rule to the rule of law, establishing a robust foundation for investments, development, and public trust. This assertion was made during the fifth convocation ceremony of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University in Lucknow on Saturday, where he addressed a gathering of graduates, legal professionals, and dignitaries.

In his speech, Yogi urged the young legal professionals to uphold constitutional values, remain steadfast in their commitment to truth, and ensure that justice is accessible to all segments of society. He emphasised that the true strength of law lies not in its sections but in the trust it garners from the populace. The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of impartiality, respect for victims, and professional integrity as critical components in fortifying the justice system.

Economic Transformation of Uttar Pradesh

Yogi Adityanath remarked that Uttar Pradesh, once classified among the BIMARU states, has significantly improved its economic standing and is now ranked among the top three economies in India. He expressed the state’s ambition to achieve a one-trillion-dollar economy by the year 2029-30. This economic transformation, according to him, is a testament to the state’s commitment to development and the rule of law.

During his address, the Chief Minister also discussed the implications of artificial intelligence in the legal profession. He cautioned against allowing technology to supplant human judgment, referencing the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita to support his viewpoint. Yogi stated that while AI should serve as an assistant, the ultimate decision-making must rest with human beings, guided by their judgment and moral principles.

He further stressed the necessity of verifying the authenticity of digital evidence in light of increasing cybercrime and challenges posed by deepfake technology. To combat these issues, he announced the establishment of cyber police stations across all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh, alongside operational cyber help desks in 1,583 police stations.

Call to Action for Graduates

In his concluding remarks, Yogi Adityanath encouraged graduates to maintain a connection with their communities. He urged them to assist in resolving local disputes, avoid professional compromises, and continue their education by studying new laws and judicial decisions. He highlighted the responsibility of legal professionals to protect the rights of ordinary citizens and contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat.

Congratulating the students and their families, the Chief Minister stated, “History will deliver the verdict, but you have to make the arguments,” underscoring the vital role that legal professionals play in shaping society. The ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Supreme Court Justice Vikram Nath, Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Arun Bhansali, and Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay, among others.

The event served not only as a celebration of academic achievement but also as a platform for discussing the future of law and justice in Uttar Pradesh, reinforcing the commitment to uphold the rule of law in the state.
